It has taken him several years to get it going but he is very excited and will be open the end of this month. He took 50# of his pastrami to Richmond VA for a special food event a couple weeks ago and chefs from NYC said neither Carnegie Deli nor Katz had anything even half as good ! Sure wish we could " meet" for real some day. Let me know if you get to the South !! cCarolinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10515562598926865179noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7152705157308391535.post-48050991843870437602015-11-29T22:41:25.995-05:002015-11-29T22:41:25.995-05:00I am looking forward to your next culinary narrati...I am looking forward to your next culinary narrative...is anything afoot for December?

Karenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02106181191240557608noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7152705157308391535.post-72374402976247973912015-07-22T02:41:29.591-04:002015-07-22T02:41:29.591-04:00This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07086427869775474519noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7152705157308391535.post-22330912348145654882015-07-20T15:58:54.756-04:002015-07-20T15:58:54.756-04:00Thanks dear Robin! Writing a blog is a funny thing - one never knows who is reading (if anyone); what they think; and whether our words have inspired any of the emotions we ourselves are feeling. To know that I have connected with you is deeply satisfying.

Coincidentally - I read this note on Friday morning just before leaving for the airport. We were en route to Chicago to eat at Alinea with some dear friends on Friday night and the quote you chose from Serve it Forth was so apropos to that moment. Thank you agin and keep reading...more to come.

ElizabethElizabethhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05888830552207651487noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7152705157308391535.post-9150748557272096222015-07-10T01:38:10.652-04:002015-07-10T01:38:10.652-04:00I can't help but think of M.F.K. It is rare to find such excellent writing on the web, let alone writing that is so eloquently penned about food.

Thank you, andI will leave you with one of my favorite M.F.K. Fisher quotations:

“Dining partners, regardless of gender, social standing, or the years they've lived, should be chosen for their ability to eat - and drink! - with the right mixture of abandon and restraint. They should enjoy food, and look upon its preparation and its degustation as one of the human arts.”
― M.F.K. I loved this bit here in your text particularly as I've been in this situation a few times: "If you keep cooking the jam and it won't set, just call it preserves and carry on," she said casually. "No one will know the difference." I'll approach my projects a bit differently. Might be a good idea to prepare these as xmas presents. taking it to Brasil with me.
